Analysis on Forming Technology of Gear Forging

The forming method is based on the complexity of the geometric shape of the forging and the dimensional accuracy and position requirements of the forging. At the same time, considering that the difficulty in forming the gear forging is the bumps on the upper and lower end surfaces, the deformation degree of which is above 809/6. For the forming of the block, it was decided to adopt a closed extrusion method for warm extrusion.

The guide of the mold adopts the diagonal setting method of the guide post and the guide sleeve to prevent the position tolerance of the upper and lower bumps from exceeding the allowable range due to the dislocation of the punch and die. In addition, good lubrication is required to further ensure smooth demoulding and reduce mold wear, so as to ensure the feasibility and stability of the process.

The selection of the parting surface can be seen from the analysis of the forging diagram. In order to ensure the rationality and dimensional accuracy of the gear forging and the stability of the mold work, the upper end surface of the forging with a diameter of 42mm can be used as the parting surface, that is, 3 of the upper end surface. The four bumps are formed by warm extrusion in the punch, and the four bumps on the cylindrical stepped body and the lower end surface are formed in the die. According to the design experience and the technical requirements in the gear forging diagram, the draft angle is designed to be about 2 except for the diameter of 42mm. Except for the draft slope, the other parts are designed to be vertical on the surface without draft slope, which can ensure the geometric shape and dimensional accuracy of the forging.
