Flash butt welding can improve material utilization, reduce machining allowance, shorten manufacturing cycle and reduce cost. All kinds of rings produced in China are mainly processed by two traditional processes of free forging and ring rolling. The machining allowance is large, the utilization rate of materials is low, and various wastes of manpower, energy and materials are relatively large, especially in production. The waste of resources is greater for special-shaped thin-walled rings. Compared with ring parts produced by ring rolling, flash butt welding is closer to the shape of parts, with less machining allowance and high material utilization rate, which can save raw materials and greatly reduce production costs.

With the rapid development of the aerospace industry, it is inevitable that the production of rings used in aircraft and its aero-engines will develop towards precision, low cost and high reliability; therefore, flash butt welding near net shape technology will become the mainstream of ring manufacturing One of the techniques. At present, all titanium alloy flash-butt welding rings on aircraft engines in my country rely on foreign imports, so the research on flash-butt welding technology of rings has great production guidance significance.
